Hearts for Cameroon: Get Involved!

There are several ways to become a part of Hearts for Cameroon. Please consider how you might support our efforts!

Becoming a Hearts for Cameroon sponsor simply means that you commit to one year to partner with an orphan or someone with special needs in Cameroon who will become your pen pal. We encourage sponsors to communicate with their special friend and pray for them regularly. Additionally, you will provide monthly financial support in the amount of your choosing.

To become a sponsor:

1. Choose a photo of your pen pal by clicking on the "Available Pen Pals" link in our "Orphan Photos" section.

2. Email us at sponsorship@heartsforcameroon.org and let us know the name of the pen pal you've selected and the monthly amount you'd like to contribute.

3. We'll email you back with a new sponsor packet that will provide all the details.

If you would like to make a one time donation to Hearts for Cameroon you can do so in one of two ways:

1. IN PERSON - If you attend St. John's Presbyterian Church or live in the West Los Angeles area, you can drop a donation in the offering plate during our 10:15 AM Sunday morning worship service or you may bring your contribution by the St. John's office at 11000 National Blvd. between 9-5 on Monday through Friday. Please clearly mark your payment and, if paying by check, make sure to write "Hearts for Cameroon" in the memo line.

2. BY MAIL - If you do not attend St. John's you may mail your donation to:

Online giving is not yet available, but we're working on it!

If you are unable to provide financial support but would like to be involved with Hearts for Cameroon, you can help us tremendously by writing letters of encouragement to unsponsored children and/or volunteer aid workers who give selflessly of their time and resources to serve their neighbors in the Ngie region of Cameroon. Letters can be written by hand or via email. Though we sponsor occasional group letter writing events you can get involved at any time by writing to letters@heartsforcameroon.org for more information.

Though Hearts for Cameroon is involved in meeting practical needs by providing school supplies, vocational training, medicine, and other "hands-on" assistance, we believe that there is a spiritual dimension to everything we do. Prayer is an important aspect of our efforts and we invite you to become a prayer partner. We'll add you to our monthly email list and offer guidance on how you can pray for specific needs that are reported to us by community organizers, volunteer leaders, church workers, and NGOs in Cameroon.

If you believe in the work of Hearts for Cameroon consider applying to join the Hearts for Cameroon Committee. We meet no more than once per month (and sometimes only once per quarter depending on our current level of activity and special events) to plan sponsorship drives, volunteer appreciation functions, etc. In addition we vote on how best to use donations and are always brainstorming on how to involve new supporters. The Hearts for Cameroon program was born after 25 St. John's Presbyterian Church members traveled to Cameroon for a two week mission trip in 2005. We hope to lead another trip to Cameroon very soon. If you're interested in traveling with us, please email info@heartsforcameroon.org.
