The purpose of Hearts for Cameroon is to strengthen the sister
church relationship between St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Los Angeles, and
the Presbyterian Church of Teze-Ngie, Cameroon. These two congregations hope to build on
the experiences of the St. John’s
mission trip to Teze (July 2005) by partnering together for practical and
spiritual community development in Teze and the surrounding area.
Specifically, the Hearts for Cameroon committee has as its
objectives:
1.
To pray for our brothers and sisters in Teze and elsewhere
in Cameroon.
2.
To foster communication between the two congregations by
sharing information and helping meet needs.
3.
To oversee the direct financial support provided by St.
John’s to the Presbyterian Church of Teze, by understanding the needs of the
Teze church and helping to ensure strong accountability for the use of this
support.
4.
To plan and oversee ways that St. John’s can work with the Presbyterian
Church of Teze to provide practical assistance to the needy, primarily
through the local non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) already established
to serve them.
5.
To communicate the activities and results of the St. John’s / Teze partnership to the St. John’s congregation and the community
at large.
6.
Within our Los
Angeles congregation, to help grow relationships
with our local Cameroonian brothers and sisters.
